Murata Manufacturing Status after Japan Earthquakes

Dear Valued Customer,

First, thank you for the concerns many of you have expressed through phone calls and emails.  We sincerely appreciate it.

I would like to update you regarding the earthquake and tsunami damage in Japan.  I am sure you have concerns about your supply of products from Murata.  At this time, it is very difficult for us to have clear details, but we would like to share the current status:

A)   These three Murata factories in the North East coast of Japan are affected:

Tome

Sendai

Oyama

1)    Tome Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Address:  11-1, Nakae 4-chome, Sanuma, Hasama-cho, Tome-shi, Miyagi 987-0511 Japan

Products: EMI Suppression Filters, Coils

Damage Situation

There is no personal suffering.  Damage is seen partially in the building and partially of equipment.  Details of the situation are continuously being confirmed.  The supply of electricity, water and the gas is out of service now, and we will inform you of the prospect of restoration as soon as it is confirmed.           

2)    Kanazawa Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Sendai Plant

Address:  2-6, Akedori 3-chome, Izumi-ku, Sendai-shi, Miyagi 981-3206 Japan

Products:  Piezoelectric Products and SAW filters

Damage Situation

There is no personal suffering.  There is no big damage to the building and equipment.  The supply of electricity, water service, and the gas is out of service now, and we will inform you of the prospect of restoration as soon as it is confirmed.

3)    Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Oyama Plant

Address:  1-480, Inuzuka, Oyama-shi, Tochigi 323-8678 Japan

Products:  Polymer Capacitors

Damage Situation

There is no personal suffering.  There is no big damage of the building and equipment.  Electricity is presently being controlled through rolling blackouts.  We will update you as new information becomes available.

We are now analyzing the backlog to determine the Customers with products manufactured at each of the affected locations and will be contacting you with more details within the next 24~48 hours.

B. Logistics

The entire Murata team in Japan and North America are closely working together to ensure uninterrupted service to our customers.  We have clarified with Murata Japan that over the weekend all shipments that had been planned to leave are on their way.  Flights from Osaka Airport are presently operating as scheduled.  We will notify you of any changes or updated information.

  1. Infrastructure in Japan

We have no clear overview yet, but for sure the North East part of Japan suffered serious damage and we do not know when this situation will fully recover.  As soon as we know more we will update you.
