From JAE:
Company Status Following the Earthquake in the Tohoku Region (Announcement March 14, 2011 9am Local Time)
We wish to update the status of JAE following the earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011 in the Tohoku region of Japan.
The JAE Hirosaki and JAE Yamagata production facilities are located in the Tohoku region where the earthquake occurred. No personnel were injured, and following inspection of the facilities no damage to buildings has been found.
However, both of Hirosaki and Yamagata factories had no electricity after the earthquake.
JAE Yamagata began performing inspections of equipment the morning of March 13, and resuming production operations as completed inspections allow.
Power service to the JAE Hirosaki has not been provided and operations at the JAE Hirosaki are currently halted.
Due to the closure of highways in the Tohoku region, logistics may be affected.
Rolling blackouts for the greater Tokyo area are planned to begin in the morning of March 14. This area includes the Akishima Plant, company headquarter and main sales office, so operations at these sites may be affected.
JAE has established a Headquarter For Disaster Control to assess and manage the changing circumstances in order to best maintain operations. We will issue status updates as the situation progresses.
